Why Go Organic / Eco-friendly?
Social responsibilty!  Environmentally harmful chemicals used in fertilizers and pesticides pollute the groundwater and rivers threatening wildlife and our food chain.  Organic  and eco fibers grow without any pesticides or chemical fertilizers.

Biodegradable: Eco and organic fabrics biodegrade naturally over time unlike synthetic fibres that eventually become waste and let off harmful toxins when the degrade.

Health: Many people are allergic or dislike being in close contact with synthetic textiles.  Organic and eco fibres are natural and do not contain irritating chemicals.  They are considered hypoallergenic and naturally antibacterial.

Popularity: Organic foods have been around for a while and it is a natural evolution that organic and eco-friendly fabrics is gaining in popularity as a healthy investment in your home environment!

What is Organic?
Organic textiles are grown in controlled settings with no pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers.  Only natural fertilizers are used and the soil and water are continously monitored.  If a fiber is "Certified Organic" its growing conditions have been monitored and certified by an agency
from one of the several organic trade organizations worldwide.  A symbol that you will see on EkoCouture's Organic fabrics is the EKO quality logo.

Sustainable farming practices used growing organic cotton do not pollute groundwater, surface water, soil or air.  In fact, soil quality is actually improved upon by the production of organic cotton.

Organic cotton feels softer, smells cleaner and is much less likely to trigger allergies.
